![]() He said to her, ``Go, call your husband and come here." The woman said to Him, ``Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw." Jesus answered and said to her, ``Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again īut whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." ``You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?" ![]() She said to Him, ``Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep where then do You get that living water? Jesus answered and said to her, ``If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, `Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, ``How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) Jesus said to her, ``Give Me a drink."įor His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph Īnd Jacob's well was there. He left Judea and went away again into Galilee. (although Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His disciples were), Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John Where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, So that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, Saying, ``I WILL SURELY BLESS YOU AND I WILL SURELY MULTIPLY YOU."Īnd so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.įor men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute. So that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.įor when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, What’s more, His absolute faithfulness means we can also be sure of His devotion and unconditional love.įor God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.Īnd we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, Since God alone perfectly meets this qualification, we can base our entire life on the certainty of His promises. All His commitments are based on His truthfulness.Ī promise is valuable only if the one making it is trustworthy. Because He’s holy, there is no sin in Him. Though everything around us changes, our heavenly Father never wavers. You can count on Him to do whatever He says He will do. That means His Word and His plans for the ultimate good of His children do not change. Today’s passage reassures us that the Lord never fails His children, even if we have to wait for His answer. Nothing can thwart His purposes, so everything He commits to do, He will do. ![]() He has infinite power, knowledge, and wisdom.
